Andy Thomas

Andy Thomas was born in 1957 and raised in Carthage, Missouri. Thomas is a painter of historical and Western art. Throughout his professional career, he has taken part in many art shows throughout the country. His western paintings led him to become an inaugural artist of the Russell Skull Society in 2013, in association with the CM Russell Museum in Great Falls, Montana. In addition to Western art, he paints and draws a variety of subjects. In 2015, Thomas was honored to become part of the Gilcrease Museum’s Rendezvous Hall of Fame. Located in Tulsa, Oklahoma, the museum acquired the oil painting titled “1843 Grand Council” as part of its permanent collection.

Thomas has documented many Civil War moments for the National Park Service mostly concentrated on the Trans-Mississippi. Historical painting subjects are widespread including the Revolutionary War, American naval and maritime, Native American history, Civil War, the Old West and whale hunting. He has illustrated several books and his images are often used for documentary films, book covers, magazine articles and school history books. Andy has two books featuring his artwork, The Artful Journey and The West in Action. As his reproductions increased in popularity, Thomas became a top-selling artist for Art Legends Inc. who has published a variety of his work, including the ever-popular images of U.S. Presidents and his Old West documentations.

Before starting his professional art career in 1991, Thomas was a staff Vice President of Marketing Services for Leggett & Platt, Inc. Andy has a bachelor degree in marketing management from Missouri Southern State University. He and his wife/manager Dina have made their sole income from art since 1991. They are honored to be part of the world of art in America.
