NARRATIVE: I’ve been drawing Buffalo Bill for the last few years. He’s such an American icon, such a character. At the pinnacle of his career, he was perhaps the most famous human being in the world. He traveled to Europe with his show and performed before Queen Victoria.

One of the main reasons he was known across the globe, and is still a household name to this day, is largely due to his marketing agent, John Burke. John knew the Wild West was so alluring that he had to package it up into a western extravaganza. He also had the idea that if William Cody, "Buffalo Bill," could meet the queen and perform before her, it would make world headlines. Mission accomplished. His goal was to “reflect Buffalo Bill into the crown of Queen Victoria," and it worked. Here’s to Buffalo Bill and those around him who marketed the marvels and intrigue of the West to the world!
