ARTIFACT: Vampire Hunting Kit

NARRATIVE: “I am quite convinced that there is no doubt whatever that the events here described really took place, however unbelievable and incomprehensible they might appear at first sight. And I am further convinced that they must always remain to some extent incomprehensible.” – Bram Stoker, from the original preface to his novel, "Dracula."

There is much speculation and mystery surrounding the actuality of vampire hunting and the authenticity of the antique Victorian-era kits that often appear in auctions. Most kits are traced to the early 1900s correlating with the growing popularity of vampire novels, stories and cinema which are rich in historic folklore. This makes their value transcend authenticity as they are a reflection of our obsession with the supernatural and genuine artifacts of gothic culture.
