NARRATIVE: According to the U.S. Library of Congress, the 1949 MGM Studios fantasy film extravaganza "The Wizard of Oz" is the most seen film in movie history. It was selected in 1989 by the Library of Congress as one of the first 25 films to be preserved in the United States National Film Registry for being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant."

I’ve been a huge fan of "The Wizard of Oz" for a very long time and drawn the characters many, many times. I’m still fascinated by the characters and they hold my attention each time I draw them. The main inspiration behind these drawings is my love of drawing with the 901 Indigo Bleu pencil, so why not also draw what I love about Oz and push and pull a little bit and make a little "wonk?!"

Here’s to my pal Zac Kee, framer extraordinaire, who suggested the floating drawings and the emerald “whoop hiney” mat underneath it all. I don’t think we are in Kansas anymore.
