NARRATIVE: This is a painting of Charlie Chaplin, the world's first silent film super star! I wanted to create a painting that showed the movie star icon and the real actor. I put him in an environment that depicted the settings from the early 1900s. One of the things that is exciting about painting characters from the silent movie era is to show them in color! I also tried to put him in an interesting composition.

Charlie Chaplin's career began in the early 20th century and spanned over 75 years. He became an international icon through his screen persona known as the "Tramp." He founded his own film production company where he wrote, directed, produced, edited, starred in, and composed music for most of his films.
